WCAG is a set of guidelines by the World Wide Web Consortium that make web content accessible to people with disabilities. It provides web developers and content creators with accessibility standards.
Who is WCAG For?
The main audience for WCAG includes:
- Web content creators (page authors, site designers, etc.)
- Makers of web authoring tools
- Developers of assessment tools for websites
- Others who desire or require an online accessibility standard, including one of mobile accessibility
What is Web Accessibility?
Web accessibility means that websites, tools, and technologies are designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them. This is important because the Web should work for everyone, not matter what their abilities are. When websites and tools are designed poorly, they can create barriers that exclude people from using them.
